A Big Gain in Just One Day!

I just saw that MAT was up .54 today, and the call that I bought yesterday for $90 is now worth $125.

That's a mighty big jump for just one day, and I'm really excited. I wonder how soon I should sell the call?

It looks like this one is doing exactly what the astrologer said it would, and it is starting to look like this process is starting to make me the money I need. Hooray!

Adding One More Trade and watching Another

I added another trade today. I wanted to sell MCD short, but the $6500 price tag was a little bit out of my range. So I bought puts instead. I paid $2.46 for March puts with a strike price of $65. According to the Astrology MCD is getting some good stuff from Jupiter right now, but that should be over soon and when it is I expect the stock to come down in price. If that happens, my put will be worth more.

I have also been watching MWV which has bounced nicely off a Saturn support line. If it continues to hold above that line I plan to buy it later in the week.

My First Trade

Yesterday afternoon I made my first trade. I figure the only way to learn this stuff is by doing it, so I took the plunge.

The newsletter suggested that Mattel would be a good stock that will go up, so I focused on that to start with. I don't have a lot of money to trade with, so I wasn't sure about spending around $2000 just to get 100 shares of Mattel stock.

So I decided to get an option instead, mainly because it is cheaper. I have learned that you buy a call when you think a stock is going up and you buy a put when you think a stock is going down, so I got a call at ninety cents, which actually cost me $90. (or to be more exact $92.96 with the commissions and everything)

This is a call for March 2010 with a strike price of twenty dollars. So I am hoping this stock goes up a lot so I can sell the call for a bunch more than I paid.

Getting Ready to Trade

I have just been laid off from my corporate job after 22 years with the same company, and I know the unemployment checks won't last forever. That's why I have decided it is time for me to learn how to make money in the stock market.

I am a complete newcomer to all of this, but I do know that I will have to have some kind of advantage if I am going to be successful in the markets, so I have subscribed to a weekly newsletter and signed up for a webinar that is teaching me how to use astrology as a trading tool.

I don't know how all of this will work out, but I think it is a good idea to keep a record of my trades as well as my thoughts and feelings as I move through the process.
